Unfortunate days in Austraila
I would like to share my spectacular memory in Australia with you. Four years ago my friend and I went on a trip to Australia for 13 days. On the fourth day we arrived at Kangaroo Island in South Australia, where wildlife animals like sea lions and kangaroos have lived. At first, everything was fine: we rented a car, ate exotic food, and visited a national park to see beautiful landscapes and endangered species. However, at night, a fierce wind, which sounded like thunder, blew and shook trees severely. Feeling nervous, I turned on TV and realized that there was a heavy storm in South Australia.
The news reported that the storm was the heaviest in 50 years and destroyed main power facility in South Australia. That led to blackout, so 850,000 people stayed with anxiety in darkness 1. Still, fortunately in case of Kangaroo Island with a local power station, the electricity problem did not occur. Before sleeping, we prayed for this wild weather to stop. The next morning, we went to a ferry dock to find out whether or not the ferry plied. We were terribly disappointed because the ferry was cancelled. We had to get to the airport on that day in order to go to Cairns. We had no choice but to be trapped in this island. To make matters worse, we had to cancel reservations for a hotel and a flight. Due to regulations, we could not get a full refund, so we blew our money, one million won, in confusion.
To relieve my depression, I decided to go for a walk. Thirty minutes later, an Australian magpie, a bird notorious for its fierce character especially in nesting season, warned and attacked me. I was very frightened and ran away as fast as I could like Forest Gump.
